why this trip is unmatched

Nobody does it like us. Literally.

Most group trips are rebranded tours run by local operators. This one is homegrown, vertically, over ten years at Playa Maderas:

the chef

Trained by us, ten years in

She's been cooking for our crews for a decade, sourcing from farms we know personally. The morning smoothie lineup is a religion.

the coaches

The surfer boys grew up with us

Our surf coaches grew up on this beach and learned to teach with our groups. Not vendors. Family who happen to rip.

the place

A partnership, not a booking

We're partners with Villas Playa Maderas and developed the panoramic yoga deck and jungle gym with them. Our trips shaped the property itself.

the leaders

Academy-trained, on this beach

Every leader trains at this exact location through the SYB Academy before leading a trip. The standard is the standard because we teach it here.

Everything is vertical. We built it. Here's why that matters.

the best bits

Three iconic moments

Woman riding a wave at sunrise, Playa Maderas

Surf lessons at sunrise

Warm Pacific waves, coaches who cheer louder than your mom, and a beach all to yourself. The photographer catches everything.

The catamaran under full sail on the Pacific

Catamaran day to Playa Blanca

A secret cove with the whitest sand in Nicaragua. Swim, snorkel, snack, repeat, then a long sunset sail home.

Sunset meditation on the yoga deck

Sunset yoga on the deck

A flow on the panoramic deck we built above the jungle, with the sky doing something ridiculous behind you. Stretchy, not preachy.

the day to day

The itinerary

One home base all week, zero repacking. Do everything or do half. Nobody is taking attendance.

Aerial view of the Playa Maderas coastline
day 1

Arrival day

Fly into Managua by 3pm and we scoop you up in the shuttle, playlist ready. Scenic ride to Playa Maderas, drop your bags, sprint into the ocean. As the sun sets we gather for a family-style dinner and a toast to the week. By bedtime you already know: this is going to be epic.

Surf lesson in the whitewater at Playa Maderas
day 2

Workout and surf

Morning workout, beach games, an ocean dip and a proper breakfast, all before 9am (we're as surprised as you are). Pool time, then down the beach for surf lessons, tacos and cold drinks with your new best friends. Sunset yoga, then a theme-night pre-party before the beach taco and tequila bar.

The yoga pavilion at Villas Playa Maderas
day 3

Surf, yoga, repeat

New workouts, breakfast, then surf lessons part two: today we really focus on surfing. Back to the house deck for a sunset flow (some of us will just enjoy the sunset with a drink, valid). Dinner at home, salsa dancing lessons and games late into the night.

The catamaran anchored off Playa Blanca, aerial view
day 4

Catamaran day

Morning workout, then to the marina for a full day on the water. White sand beach, snorkeling, fresh food on board, drinks while sailing into the sunset. Pack a change of clothes: dinner tonight is in San Juan del Sur. Don't worry, it's a beach town. Shoes optional.

Two women by the beach bonfire at night
day 5

Full SYB day

Sleep in, we know last night was a lot. We start at 10am and then we do not stop: workout, surf, pool, sunset yoga on the deck, and for our last night together, the awards ceremony. Expect superlatives, happy tears and a bonfire under the stars.

Pink sunset over the surf at Playa Maderas
day 6

Departure day

Checkout at 8am, vans to Managua and Liberia, so book a flight that departs after noon. Until next time... or until we throw the next party, because this friendship just started.

the quarters

The villas and rooms

Villas Playa Maderas: a private, gated villa community above the beach with 24-hour security, two infinity pools, our surf-view yoga deck and jungle gym, and air-conditioned rooms with safes. Our home base since 2015, and it shows: the staff greet returning leaders like family.

the experts

Your leaders: Holly, Meag + Bri

Academy-trained SYB leaders who run the week so you don't have to think. First wave, first toast, first "ok everyone drink water."

Holly, SurfYogaBabe trip leader

Holly

@hollylipsfit

Runs the workouts you'll complain about at 7:30am and brag about by noon.

Meag, SurfYogaBabe trip leader

Meag

@meag_donnelly

Keeper of the vibe. Also the karaoke. Do not challenge her at karaoke.

Bri, SurfYogaBabe trip leader

Bri

@brianna_funk

Will be in the lineup screaming louder than you when you catch your first wave.

what to expect before you book

The small stuff

I'm coming solo. Is that weird?

Most of the group comes solo. Three weeks out you join the group chat, and by day two of the trip it will have renamed itself something unhinged. You are never alone on this trip.

How fit do I need to be? Can I actually learn to surf?

If you can show up, you can do this trip. Workouts scale from beginner to instructor-level, and surf sessions are coached by level. Most women stand up on day one. Maybe not gracefully. The photographer catches it either way.

Is Nicaragua safe for a group of women?

We've run trips here since 2015 with the same trusted local team, drivers and surf partners. You stay in a gated villa community with 24-hour security and in-room safes, every transfer is organized, and leaders are with you all week. From the moment you land, you're taken care of.

What flights should I book?

Fly into Managua (MGA), about 2.5 hours away; land by 3:00 PM on arrival day to catch a group shuttle. Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) also works, about 3 hours with a border crossing. Departure flights should leave after 12:00 PM. Six weeks out we collect everyone's flight details and build the shuttle schedule around them. Most travelers don't need a visa; bring a valid passport and a small entry fee.

What's the food situation?

Our private chef, trained by our team and cooking for our crews for ten years, prepares fresh, local meals: high-quality meats, organic produce where possible, no seed oils, and 4 to 5 fresh smoothie flavors every morning. Dietary restrictions? Tell us ahead and it's handled.

What happens after I book?

You book your flight. Six weeks out we send a quick form for flights and food preferences. Three weeks out you get the trip guide, the party themes and the group chat invite. Then you show up at the airport and look for the happiest crew there.

Cancellation and changes

A 20% deposit ($390 shared / $530 private) reserves your spot and counts toward your total. The balance is due six weeks before departure.

Cancel more than 45 days out and you receive trip credit toward any future SYB trip within 12 months. Within 45 days of departure, payments are non-refundable and non-transferable, because by then the villas, chef and crew are locked in for you.

Travel and medical insurance is required. It's cheap, it protects your money, and it's the most adult thing you'll do all week.

last call, babe

March 14 to 19, 2027.
Just us girls.

Spots are limited and the group chat gets better every time someone books. Don't think. Just do.
